Jules Leleu

Double Torsade - Model #3555, Pair of Two-armed Sconces

France, 1950s

LELEU 723

Description

Gilt metal

Height: 14.5"

This charming pair of gilt-metal sconces, designed in 1947, but executed some time in the 1950s, are of a delicate filigreed design reminiscent of script and possess two symmetrical, cross-over arms that extend from the fixtures' centers like smoke twisting gently from a flame. These pieces nevertheless evoke a more traditional notion of French decoration.

Stamped and numbered.
