Mark Brazier-Jones is fascinated by the notion of Akasha: "the basis and essence of all things in the material world … the one eternal all-pervading physical substance which is imperceptible." This fascination is here conveyed by the juxtaposition of sumptuous, roughly hewn amethyst stone with patinated and well-sculpted bronze. With the former Brazier-Jones displays the remarkable beauty of the natural world and with the latter, the underlying structure of which this beauty is composed.
