Sag Harbor, New York (Summer, 2021) - Maison Gerard is pleased to announce their participation in the Galerie House of Art and Design, Sag Harbor, NY. This will be Galerie’s inaugural House of Art and Design in the Hamptons and it will be open to the public from August 6th through 29th, 2021. Maison Gerard will present the work of some of the leading artist’s working in contemporary design today, as well as curated selection of prominent and highly collectible works from masters of 20th century design. These works will be featured in their own presentation space as well as in the grand entrance gallery, the sculpture garden, and in the rooms of a number of other prominent designers.
Upon entry, guests will be treated to the debut of Artist's Hand, in the entrance gallery, a spectacular new illuminated sculpture by internationally acclaimed Irish artist Niamh Barry whose work is available exclusively through Maison Gerard. "This piece serves as a three dimensional translation of a drawing in bronze and light," says Barry.
“Le Petit Salon'' is a special space that invites conviviality. It is light, easy and functional, yet stylish, equally suited to enjoying a morning coffee as it is to unwinding with an afternoon cocktail. Open to the kitchen on one side and the garden on the other, this space blurs the lines of indoor and outdoor living. It functions as an antechamber to the outdoors, offering glorious views of the garden and boasts a handsome sculpture by the artist Marino Di Teana, which serves as a prelude to a series of larger sculptures on view in the garden. Highlights of “Le Petit Salon'' include a rare, one-of-a-kind, suspended, curved bar designed in the 1970s by Maxime Old. Originally designed for the Paris office of the president of the Port of Marseilles, the bar exudes both drama and practicality. A duo of cloud formations by Israeli artist Ayala Serfaty engage in a dreamy dialogue overhead, offering a soothing light. A series of images by filmmaker and photographer Anna Condo crown the doors to the terrace. Her work reflects a fascination with capturing the essence of flowers and beautiful objects. The intimate space also features an exceptional selection of late 20th century seating by French artist and designer Louis Cane who is known for uniting traditional aesthetics with contemporary flair; side tables by visionary architect and designer Achille Salvagni evoking water drops, made from two-inch thick poured glass; and bronze and wood sculptures by Zigor.
A selection of other designers and studios participating in the house, including Nicole Fuller, Mark Cunningham, Richard Mishaan, Sara Story, Leroy Street Studio, Jordan Hilton, Kimberly von Koontz, and Ellen Hamilton, will also be featuring works from Maison Gerard, such as the Cube Contemporary Side Tables from Stacklab, a Silk Parchment Contemporary Cabinet from Achille Salvagni, ceiling and wall light sculptures by Ayala Serfaty, and a selection of furniture from Guillerme et Chambron.
At the House of Art and Design, Maison Gerard joins a venerable list of blue-chip galleries, including Kasmin, Perrotin, Tripoli, Salon 94, Mariane Ibrahim, and Nara Roesler, as well as a selection of top interior designers, including Nicole Fuller, Rayman Boozer, Billy Cotton, Mark Cunningham, Dwyer McIntosh Derrig, Geoffrey De Sousa, Elena Frampton, Elizabeth Gill, Josh Greene, Ellen Hamilton, Andre Hilton, Adam Hunter, Ike Kligerman Barkley, Katie Leede, Leroy Street Studio, Leyden Lewis, Jeff Lincoln, Richard Mishaan, Rocky Rochon, and Sara Story.
